They're Here!
Sep. 18th, 2001 11:29 pmYes, after a not-so-pleasant flight, my very best friend Shawna and her darling 18month old Alyia have arrived safe and sound.
We don't have guests that much - in fact this is only the third time in the year we've been in the house. I love having people here. I love having *Shawna* here. We were discussing tonight that she hadn't been to visit me since about 1993. Granted we lived in the same city for a year or so, but she hadn't travelled to visit me in about 8 years.
We've been friends for nearly 25 years now. It's bizarre to think that when we first met, we were younger than Nick is now. Our parents were younger than we are now. We used to sit at the kitchen table, drink Kool-Aid and pretend to be grown-ups, discussing various (and imaginary) members of our family and what they had been up to. Inevitably someone had just jumped off the roof and survived, as that was how we thought back then. It's so surreal to be doing this for real now.
Tomorrow we are going to Saint John to see the ocean and just play tourist. I hope Alyia survives another day of travelling. :)
