I am getting more and more tempted to get a paid account. Shut up Steve, I am.

I haven't done it yet, but I want to.

Besides the multitude of icons and the ability to make polls, why would i do this??

Because it's the cool thing to do and you know it. ;-)

Try to work trains into it. I'll make you a train icon.

When I first got mine a while back, another advantage is that journals load faster, because paid accounts get access to more/faster servers. Now that LJ has been bought out and is presumably doing better financially, all users might get that advantage, but it's a potential cool factor!

You can also customize your journal in far cooler ways as a paid user as well. :)

Paid account features that I like:

Polls & surveys
Friends of friends view
15 icons (with the ability to buy more)
Journal customization
Custom mood themes
Photo storage
LJ subdomain (you'd be
LJ e-mail alias
Posting via e-mail
Posting via phone

There are others, but these are the ones that I like. And it really is cheap. Paid accounts do get preference over free ones when there are issues of server speed, et cetera.

I can't say how to justify it to Steve -- Jon would say go ahead and do it, but I'm spoiled and I know it.

When I got my paid account, I got it more to support LJ than for the features. US$25 a year to support something you get so much out of - sounds like a good reason to me!
